Minutes of the HR Committee meeting held on Wednesday 3rd June 2020 at 2.00pm via Zoom.

IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CORONAVIRUS ACT 2020 THIS MEETING TOOK PLACE VIRTUALLY VIA ZOOM

The Meeting opened at 14.03

1. Chairman’s opening remarks

Councillor Bunney welcomed all present to the meeting and explained how voting would be managed during the virtual meeting.

2. To approve and accept Apologies for absence and reasons given.

Apologies were received from Councillors Matthews and Sirett, it was noted that Councillor Matthews would join the meeting when possible.

It was RESOLVED to accept the apologies.

3. To approve the notes of the previous meeting, 11th March 2020, as minutes.

It was RESOLVED to approve the notes of the previous meeting as the official minutes.

4. To resolve that under the public bodies (admission to meetings) act 1960, the public and representatives of the press and broadcast media be excluded from the meeting during the consideration of the following items of business as publicity would be prejudicial to the public interest because of the confidential nature of the business to be transacted.

It was RESOLVED to exclude the Public and Press.

(Councillor C Turner was invited to remain by the Chairman.)

5. Staffing Matters to include:

• Staff Welfare

It was noted that some training needs had been identified.

It was RESOLVED that a basic training policy be put in place which will be monitored with training renewed as required, and that it be recommended to Full Council that expenditure be authorised to cover travel to training, and training from various applicable suppliers .

Members noted that the Community Manager would identify suitable basic training for caretaking staff, potentially to include:

  • Manual Handling
  • First Aid
  • Working at heights
  • Communication
  • Basic Electrical training
  • Basic Maintenance
  • Fire Safety
  • Play Equipment checks

(At The Chairman’s request The Community Manager left the meeting at 14.23)

• Probation Period

Members noted that the Clerk’s Cilca training had been previously delayed until October and it was possible the delay may be extended depending on the availability of training due to Covid-19 restrictions.

The Clerk was granted opportunity to make any comments regarding the probationary period prior to leaving the meeting.

(At the Chairman’s request the Clerk left the Meeting at 14.25, the Chairman took the remainder of the notes.)

It was RESOLVED that the Clerk had successfully completed the probationary period and contractual obligations dependent upon this should now be met.
